About Talty, Texas

While Talty was incorporation in 1999, it is a community settled in late l800’s.  The median age of the resident is 32.  Median household income $92,695 and the median house value is $177,400.

The Town is located on Interstate 20, twenty miles east of Dallas.  The land area inside our city limits is only 4.0 square miles, but there is an equal amount within ½ mile of our town limits.  Thus our population of approximately 1600 is understated due to the number of houses within this ½ mile.  Counting those homes, the population would be approximately 3200.  During the next five years, it is anticipated  an additional 600 lots to be platted inside the town limits.  Using a five year buildout of 50%, this would add an additional 1000 residents inside town limits.  With an additional 200 lots within ½ , mile of our town limits that are platted and construction ongoing we anticipate a growth in this area to be about 600 new residents.  With these projects ongoing we predict the population inside town limits would be around 2600 and adding those within ½ mile the population would be close to 5000.

Considerable land has been zoned commercial/retail along Interstate 20 and FM 1641.  This area will become major retail stores and offices to serve the residents of Talty area.  With this commercial/retail will be heavy sales tax revenues and will push property taxes far out into the future.
