Nathaniel Caro became Talty's newest city council member in May. Caro and his wife, Cassandra, moved into Talty after having built a home in Layden Farms. Caro is retired from law enforcement and also serves the community as an HOA board member.

An open seat during this year's election cycle became available due to Courtney McGrath not submitting his name due to a planned move to the New Braunfels area. McGrath first became a council member in 2015 after having been a planning and zoning commissioner.
